Over 40 students of architecture, landscape architecture, and design from the University of Genoa together with undergraduates from technical architecture and agricultural engineering from the University of Lleida presented proposals to redesign the green roof of the H3 module of the PCiTAL building in Lleida on May 3rd.
For two days, students from both universities had the chance to learn about Building Integrated Greenery (BIG) systems, their design, maintenance, and benefits from the experts working on the BIG4LIFE project. By combining presentations with visits to some of the project’s green roofs, the students were able to learn about key concepts like xeriscaping and see first-hand different approaches to increasing greenery in buildings.
The visit culminated with the student’s presentations, showcasing their ingenuity with designs that provide ecosystem services to the dwellers of the building while optimizing the use of water to ensure the efficient maintenance of the green infrastructure.
